Although I suppose it’s not THAT dirty, or too much of a stretch when you consider the insane amount of live entertainment I devour.
I love musicals. I feel drawn to Broadway in that obsessive, Rachel Berry, *jazz hands* kinda way. I was a musical theater major in college and always had aspirations of being ON the stage, instead of standing in front of it. Geographically, I’m in a good spot. I’m 90 miles from Boston and 150 from New York City. I can easily head to NY for the day to catch a show, which I do as often as possible.
I took O to her first show this summer. We caught a matinee of the Lion King….it was AMAZING. We sat right on the aisle, which is an awesome place to be when the animals come up past you to get onto the stage. I also saw Wicked, which was pretty incredible when you consider my love for the Wizard of Oz. I literally cried when I called to order the tickets. I could list the shows I’ve seen but there are LOTS. Everything from Cats to Phantom, Les Mis and Rent….Chicago, Grease, Fiddler…you get the idea.
This brings me to the reason for this post. I got an email today that Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella is going to be on Broadway next summer. I seriously had goosebumps on my goosebumps when I read this. It’s one of my favorite versions of the story, hands down. If you haven’t seen it, it’s the one where Brandy plays Cinderella and Whitney (RIP, girrrl) plays her fairy god-diva. Amazeballs.
I’m going to have to take O to see that one!
