B-Capp at the Wolf Den, Mohegan Sun 11/18

Everything that I do, and that I plan to do is with the best of intention. Twice I’ve been in the same place at the same time as Brandon Cappiello aka B-Capp, yet I’d never seen him perform. I got word that he would be performing at Mohegan Sun in the Wolf Den on 11/18 and I made the decision to go-no matter what.

If you’ve never heard of B-Capp, I’ll give you some history.  Right off the bat, you can see that he’s awfully nice to look at, but that doesn’t mean anything without the talent to back it up, right? Brandon will be 20 years old on 11/30, and is from an Italian family from the Boston area. His dad owns a boxing gym called Cappiello Bros. Brandon is a 3rd cousin to Rocky Marciano, and is also a boxer.  He rounds out the athleticism with his history at Capichione School of the Performing Arts, where he seems to have really honed his performing skills. He was recently on the cover of Enterteenment Magazine, and is currently working with Malik Williams, a platinum selling composer/producer  from Boston, whose work has appeared in records, film, television shows, and in national advertising campaigns. Malik is currently up for a Boston Music Award.

Back to the night of the show….I got my bestie on board and we headed off to the casino. When we got there, there was a decent line going. Seating at the Wolf Den is first come, and there really aren’t many seats. I started to look for Brandon’s dad, but found another relative first. He kindly outfitted us with our VIP passes and we got at the end of the line.  Right at 6, they started to let us in for a 7pm show time. There were 2 opening acts, Veronica Kole and the Risky Business Band.

Veronica Kole is an 18 year old singer with a serious passion for music and an anti-bullying advocate. She’s doing big things and you should definitely check her out if you’re looking for a unique sound. The Risky Business Band is a quintet from Boston. This was their 100th gig and it shows-they’re seasoned performers with a really solid sound AND they’re all still teenagers!

In between The Risky Business Band and B-Capp, there was a buzz that Snooki was in the house. Now, if you’re a B-Capp fan, you know Snooks is too….I just wouldn’t have expected to see her there.  I almost didn’t believe it, but all of a sudden she was on stage with her dad addressing the crowd. She was different than I expected, much quieter and more reserved. Very pretty too!  Snooki, her dad and her fiancée,  Jionni occupied a table at the back of the room and people started lining up for pictures. Tsk tsk, y’all.  *in my best YouTube freakout voice*  LEAVE SNOOKI ALOOOOONE!!!

Finally, it was show time. With the Wolf Den dark, B-Capp came out onto the stage.  It wasn’t a walk…more like a glide, he can definitely move. I wasn’t sure what to expect when he started singing, I’d seen his videos but you just never know how a performer will sound live. I was pleasantly surprised. He has a smooth R&B sound and he raps as well as he sings. With swag rarely seen in someone so young, he got the ladies in the crowd swooning. For most of the show, there were several ladies dancing in front of the stage and he didn’t miss making eye contact with a single one of them.  He’s definitely a full spectrum entertainer-he clearly takes inspiration from Michael Jackson’s dancing, because the choreography was as mesmerizing as the singing.

After a really fantastic set, we were invited to Ballo, an Italian restaurant inside the casino. We made our way inside and found out that they were even feeding us. Score! There were amazing apps being passed around, pizzas everywhere and just a general good time vibe. After a bit of time, Brandon came in and mingled with the crowd. Snooki was at the party too and was really friendly, even posing for a picture with my friend and I.

Brandon was friendly as well, and more importantly, appreciative of the support, which NEVER goes unnoticed. We stayed for quite a while, had a chance to chat with all of the performers, saw some old friends and really had a chance to relax and kick back. All that said, if you have a chance to check out B-Capp, don’t hesitate. He’s a great performer and he seems to be on the track to superstardom.
